I have been working in the building industry for 10 + years. Before inspection, carpentry was my background. I worked under various master carpenters before branching out on my own. I have worked in the building industry in western Canada, Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Fine carpentry, roofing, exterior/interior renovations, and insulating were some of the areas that I focused on in my solo ventures as a carpenter. More recently I have studied building science and looking at the house as a complete system. This approach allows you to understand how each individual component of a building can affect another.
Through my certification program as a Home Inspector, I studied all aspects of the home. Electrical, Plumbing, Structure, Foundations, the building site, Roofing, Asbestos awareness and much more. This specialized training, coupled with my extensive background in the building industry, is what sets me apart as one of Cape Breton's most trusted building inspectors.
Another thing that sets me apart from other building inspectors is that I have insurance. Never assume that your building inspector is insured, because they most likely are not! Many people have been surprised to find out that most building inspectors are not insured. This leaves YOU open to a lot of risk. Ask if your inspector is insured before you book your inspection.
